Apple is laying off 200 employees from their Vision Pro and Siri teams. This shouldn’t be too surprising as they have fallen behind in the realm of AI. The Vision Pro shouldn’t be too surprising as that device has lagged sorely behind. Same for the Siri team as they are moving to Google for their device’s AI model.

Roughly, around 100 from the Vision Pro team. The other 100 have impacted the team behind Siri and another called Intelligent Systems Experience. They focused on the integration of AI into devices. The company is reshuffling to focus on its newer AI efforts and new devices, Bloomberg reported.

Apple confirmed the cuts to Bloomberg, saying it was looking “to evolve our business to deliver the best experiences for our users.” It added: “While we will create new roles as part of this change, it will also impact a limited number of existing roles.” TechCrunch reached out to Apple for more information.

Vision Pro Team Suffering Layoffs at Apple

The Vision Pro had a very promising start. Apple has sold close to 180,000 Vision Pro units in pre-sale, according to Barrons. “That dwarfs what analysts were expecting for initial sales when the product was announced,” Barrons reported. “They now expect the tech giant to ship and sell 600,000 headsets in 2024, compared with a prior expectation of 460,000.”

However, demand slowed sharply. High prices, high return rates, and limited app support led Apple to scale back production and marketing. At the beginning of 2026, Apple had cut production on the headset. As well as reduced marketing by 95 percent in 2025.

To be honest, I always forget about the Vision Pro. When I see the image, I always seem confuse it with the Oculus or the PS5 version of it. If gaming companies couldn’t make this a thing, why did Apple think they could?
