You may have seen a trailer for a new show I was prepping. Well, I scrapped that version of the show and came up with a new title. The Gen X Construct is a new show that will take over the original Gen-Xer Pod. The concept behind the show is a “mission to civilize”. I will be using Generation X (my generation) as the construct.
So much generational war is going on and it isn’t anything new. The war has been going on since the time of Aristotle. Even he wrote about shitting on the younger generation. “They care too much. They love too much”. Even in the 1700s, columns in papers of the time were talking about the next generation being soft. They could not be the offspring of great men of the revolution.
Much of the content I will be looking into will be topics from now. Explain how this isn’t anything new. Push that all of this is to deflect us from coming together and making real change. How much of the faux outrage on social media is to push likes. Push engagement. Most importantly, make these creators money.
The Gen X Construct Looks to the Past
Even when I see members of my generation spitting trash. Complaining about how we looked to the past for music. That is a load of shit. I never listened to seventies music, willingly, until I reached my thirties. No one was listening to Frank Sinatra mixed in with their umpteenth time of listening to License to Ill.
Much of our perception comes from generational dysmorphia. A mixed perception of our memories and what we believe to be true in the present. Newer generations get participation ribbons. Sorry, but in the seventies and eighties – we had them too. I got a couple.
So join me every Wednesday for new episode of The Gen X Construct.
