There was a hope. A faint hope. Well, a faint hope that we could get support to move this blog to another self-hosted site. The contract for this blog is coming to an end Friday. As of right now, we are not going to be able to raise funds to move. Instead of waiting until the last minute, I made the preemptive decision to start migrating content to the back-up site. You can now find our new content at thelazygeeks.wordpress.com for the time being. That is until we can raise funds to try it again.
There is a sense of relief that we still own the domain. So, we can bring the site back to that domain when I can. One of the missions of the site was to get people to help sustain us. Donations would be to help pay for domain and site renewals. Upgrade some of our equipment. Get Adam some real headphones. Replace mine that are over five years old. Pay for some proper editing software.
However, that doesn’t seem to have worked out. But, I’m not pulling any passive-aggressive tone here. I’m just being transparent. So, we will continue doing what we always have done. Make things work. As far as the whole Patreon thing goes, I will keep posting content there for a month or so. However, if there is no interest in it, then I will discontinue the whole thing. I mean, no sense in doing extra work for no one. Am I right?
Saying goodbye to this blog
Again, I ain’t mad. When I started this set-up, I kept the old WordPress blog up, just as a back-up. Having learned from the last time, you never know what’s going to happen. I just added some old content from this blog to the back-up. Now, had I not had the back-up, it would be a completely different story.
Angry. Annoyed. Pissed.
Not at the readers or anything. It would be at myself. Why was I so stupid at not keeping that around? Since you can’t re-use old domain (which is stupid), having to come up with something close. Or, something like, I’m a dumb fuck.
Anyways, you can check over the back-up blog. This is the final post for this one. The site will come down on Thursday. The blog versions of both this week’s The Lazy Geeks and The Disgruntled Cinephile will be posted over there. See you guys at the old pad.
