What Sony failed to do cinematically, they are trying to do on the small screen. One of the most controversial storylines in the Spider-Man lore is the “Clone Saga”. Ask any longtime fan about it, they will either come at you with dread or an eye-roll. As per Deadline, the Clone Saga Spider-Man is coming to Amazon.

Shortly after they announced the cancellation of Spider-Noir, they are going to try it again. However, in the piece, there seems to be a lot of questions beyond the announcement of the show. Whether it will actually feature Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker, is one question. Whether it follows the story from the comic is another?

Some other concerning information comes in the way of “sources” cautioning fans “while the comics serve as source material and inspiration”, we could see “significant changes”. Meaning the characters may be new versions. They may not even be named “Ben” or “Kaine”.

They claim there is further conflicting information about the plot. Like one being the story follows “Ben and Kaine as they grapple with their newly discovered identities as clones while also facing other clones.”

To be honest, this doesn’t fill me with a lot of hope. Also, how are they gonna do the clone saga without Tom Holland? I mean, with Kaine, would be easy with graphics but he later becomes deformed. But Ben took over as Spider-Man for a short time. That is if this takes place in the 616 universe.

Much of the problem with Sony utilizing the Spider-Man universe is that it doesn’t work without Spider-Man. Now, if they bring in a new Spider-Man like they did in the Spider-Verse movies. That would be bold and could allow this stuff to work. If they do it like they did with Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven, it’s another disaster.
